INOUE has a long history that goes back to 1828, and that was our beginning.
The beginning of Jeweler INOUE was that the founder, Hatsuji Inoue, began to create and sell Kanzashi(Japanese traditional ornamental hair stick) and tobacco pipe at Kurume (Kurume city, Fukuoka prefecture).Since then, we have been known for refined work and expressive design. Furthermore, we have built up a reputation for our sincere attitude to the customers. In other words, the customers are most precious and important for us at anytime.
Afterwards the shop was moved to Kawabata in Fukuoka city and formed as the basis of the company. We have some story behind our foundation.

It took a while after WWⅡ that INOUE started to treat jewelries and accessories in earnest as we do now. At that time, the United States Air Force was still stationed at Itazuke base (the present Fukuoka Airport) and many of the soldiers were living there as well. One day, the 5th of INOUE, Keiji, happened to meet one soldier and he asked Keiji to create his wedding ring. However, it was not that easy to find precious metal, such as gold and silver, which had become rare due to postwar period. Hearing about the lack of material, the soldier offered a buckle of his belt and his favorite gold lighter to create the ring.
That impressed Kenji deeply. Keiji completed creating the wedding ring finally, wishing the great happiness of this couple that hold a wedding in the country, far away from his place. His detailed and beautiful work became known among the American soldiers so he got many orders for creating ring one after another. In the end, Keiji came to be recognized as 'craftsman' after since he improved his skill and technique of creating and processing modern jewelry.
Seeing his father's work, Kenichi, who later became the 6th, made a decision to devote himself to understand the beauty and attraction of diamond and bring out the best in it. After his graduation from university, he went to the U.S. by himself although overseas trip was not so common for Japanese people at that time. Kenichi passed the exam of G.I.A.(Gemological Institute of America),as a result of his hard study at G.I.A 's home which devised diamond grading' s global standards,'4C'. After returning to Japan, he built business networks internationally based on the knowledge of jewelry, business know-how and the skills of grading and judging gem, which of all he obtained in the U.S. . INOUE, afterwards, have come to be recognized all over Japan as the specialty jeweler that treats 'low-price, high quality' jewelries and watches.

G.I.A. G.G. is the title that is given to those who took special trainings as a specialist of comprehensive gemology and learned the knowledge of jewels, business know-how and gem grade and identify skills, all with one's ethics.
Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.), founded in 1931, is the global educational institution for gemology with 12 campuses in 8 countries and areas and leading educational field of gemology. G.I.A devised the global standard of grading diamond, '4C'.

New York, the United States and Antwerp, Belgium－The largest central markets of diamond cutting in the world are located in these two cities. INOUE has been an official member of prestigious local Diamond Exchanges since 1992. We purchase directly from local exchanges and import dealers, and cut down intermediate margin widely. This award is given by Japanese government to those who have outstanding skills and techniques in specific fields. Also, some of them are given 'Medal with Yellow Ribbon' by the His Imperial Majesty.
